No-test telemedicine abortion provides a way to improve abortion access as well as decrease the risk of COVID-19 exposure. In this session, we present the evidence, our experience, and the ethics surrounding no-test telemedicine abortion. We discuss the barriers to implementation and the strategies to change our treatment paradigms during and after the pandemic.
Physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, researchers, social workers, health educators and other healthcare professionals.

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to: 

  1. Identify the need for providing no-test telemedicine abortion to increase access to medical abortions during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
  2. Present the no-test telemedicine abortion protocols deployed during the pandemic.
  3. Summarize the current evidence regarding the safety and feasibility of no-test telemedicine abortion.
  4. Describe the barriers to implementation and strategies to address them.
  5. Recognize important ethical considerations surrounding no-test telemedicine abortion.
