Overview
Mitchell Creinin, MD provides an overview of hormones commonly used in contraception and associated reproductive health care geared to the family planning subspecialist. Education focuses on understanding androgenicity of hormones, impact on the liver and kidneys, and future drug development through an emphasis on key structural differences among various estrogen and progestogen ligands that modulate effects on hormone receptors. The content directly addresses multiple fellowship milestone objectives, primarily “Contraception medical knowledge.”

Physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, researchers, social workers, health educators, and other healthcare professionals. 
Learning objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:  

  1. Understand the differences between the different estrogens and progestins in contraceptives. 
  2. Understand the side effects from contraceptives and how they relate to the different hormones. 
  3. Interpret data to inform our understanding of adverse events.
