During this session presenter Lisa Hofler, MD, MPH, MBA will provide an overview of billing and coding in the family planning setting. Participants will learn how physician work codes are created, valued, and updated using real-world family planning examples, including IUD removal and insertion, D&C for abortion or early pregnancy loss, immediate postpartum LARC, and more.
Physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, researchers, social workers, health educators, and other healthcare professionals. 
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:  
  1. List common types of medical codes.
  2. Describe the process of code creation, valuation, and updates.
  3. Identify ways to advocate for the value of the work you do.

Physicians: The Society of Family Planning is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Society of Family Planning designates this other activity (hybrid format) for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
